OrthoIndy and Hancock Health Announce New Partnership to Expand Orthopedic Care in East Central Indiana

OrthoIndy News

Patient benefits include coordinated treatment plans and increased, convenient access to OrthoIndy specialists and advanced, patient-centered orthopedic services

INDIANAPOLIS—East Central Indiana residents will soon have expanded access to world-class orthopedic care close to home thanks to a new partnership between Hancock Health and OrthoIndy. Beginning July 1, OrthoIndy will become the exclusive provider of orthopedic services at Hancock Health, bringing its specialized, patient-centered orthopedic care directly to the community.

The new partnership combines OrthoIndy’s nationally recognized orthopedic and sports medicine expertise with Hancock Health’s deep community roots and commitment to delivering high-quality, community-focused healthcare. By coming together, the two organizations will help ensure patients receive the best possible outcomes through increased and timely access to leading orthopedic specialists.

“This partnership is a win for our patients and our community,” said Steve Long, president and CEO of Hancock Health. “Our goal has always been to offer the highest level of care to the people and community we serve, and this collaboration with OrthoIndy allows us to deliver on that promise in new and exciting ways. We’re proud to welcome the OrthoIndy team to Hancock Health and look forward to making health possible to all of East Central Indiana by delivering clinical excellence and patient-first care together.”

What Patients Can Expect from the Partnership

The partnership’s ability to bring more orthopedic services to East Central Indiana will help eliminate the need for many patients to travel to Indianapolis for specialized treatment. Additional benefits will include coordinated treatment plans across providers and access to OrthoIndy’s full range of specialties, such as sports medicine, joint replacement, spine care, orthobiologics and more.

“We’re honored to partner with Hancock Health to provide East Central Indiana with the high standard of orthopedic care that patients have come to expect from OrthoIndy,” said Dr. Matthew Lavery, president of OrthoIndy. “This partnership is about more than just expanding services – it’s about earning the trust of this community and delivering high-quality care that makes a real difference in people’s lives. We look forward to working hand-in-hand with Hancock Health to ensure patients have convenient access to exceptional orthopedic treatment right in their community.”

Trusted Providers, Now Backed by a Growing Network and Resources

As part of the new partnership, Dr. Stephen Shively, a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon at Hancock Health specializing in sports medicine and minimally invasive arthroscopic procedures, will officially join the OrthoIndy team. He will continue seeing patients at his current office at 1 Memorial Square in Greenfield, helping ensure continuity of care while offering patients expanded access to OrthoIndy’s broader network of specialists and resources.

Also serving the East Central Indiana community is Dr. Sameer Puri, a hand, upper extremity and peripheral nerve specialist with Indiana Hand to Shoulder Center – an OrthoIndy practice as of early 2025. Dr. Puri will continue to see patients at Indiana Hand to Shoulder Center’s Greenfield clinic and perform surgeries at Hancock Health.

In the months ahead, OrthoIndy will grow its physician presence at Hancock Health with added sub-specialty care in sports medicine and joint replacement, with future plans to include spine, hand, foot and ankle services.

These developments are part of a period of strategic growth for OrthoIndy. In early 2025, the practice announced partnerships with Tri-State Orthopedics in Evansville and Fort Wayne Orthopedics to launch OrthoIndiana, an integrated group focused on delivering advanced, patient-centered orthopedic care across the state. OrthoIndy also aligned with Lafayette Orthopedic Clinic, further expanding its footprint and reinforcing its commitment to providing expert, specialized orthopedic care to communities across Indiana.
